Our Children Are At Risk
There is a concerted attack underway against American society and the American future. Our children--all of our children--are on the front lines. They're not faring well.
Every now and then, I read a book that warrants a review. If you’ve followed my work, you know that my reviews never read like book reports. I’m not one to summarize every chapter. My idea of a worthwhile review is one that engages the authors’ themes.
Why? Because I write for the sole purpose of engaging my readers. I try to convey perspectives and analyses I haven’t seen elsewhere. Those of you who read my work can determine how well I do. If I’m not thought provoking (at least on occasion), I’ve failed.
I like to presume that other writers—at least, good ones—share that goal. So when I read something that helps me crystallize my thinking, I reach out to engage with those authors.
Yesterday, RealClearBooks ran my review of Stolen Youth, by Karol Markowicz and Bethany Mandel. It’s a sobering review of a sobering book. If you’ve got kids, might want to have kids, know someone who has kids, care about kids, or used to be a kid, you need to read it. Our future is under attack and our children are on the front lines.
I speak personally. What my own children are going through is tragic, brought about by pure selfishness and cruelty. I’m not yet at liberty to share too many details. Many of my kids’ problems lie closer to home than do the attacks Karol and Bethany outline. But the problems they identify create a backdrop ensuring that all problems of childhood and family become exacerbated—giving a clear advantage to those seeking to hurt over those desperate to help.
We’re living in very dark times. Unless more people wake up—fast—they will become far darker. Let’s hope that Stolen Youth is part of the wakeup call.

And, indeed. These creepy crooks only number about 8,500 people!
But humanity has been there before. It's only about "never again repeats itself" in a "circle game," as it always had . . . since the beginning of time.

Here's the thing: "Adolf Eichmann (1906–1962) was the man behind the execution of the Final Solution. He fled to Argentina at the end of the Second World War, but was kidnapped by Israeli agents in 1960 to stand trial. This is the story of that trial. The Eichmann trial marks a real turning point in the emergence of the memory of the genocide of the Jews, in Israel, Germany and the United States. It is the first major transnational narrative that constructs the genocide of the Jews as a distinct event in the Second World War. It was intended as such by those who organised it in Jerusalem. [...] Israeli Prime Minister Ben Gurion referred to it as a “Nuremberg of the Jewish people”. It also marks the advent of the witness. History is now told by those who were its victims. The perception of the “trial moment” as a turning point is now part of the common knowledge on the construction of the memory of the genocide."
