Over the past few weeks, important rulings from the Supreme Court have given us some interesting responses from the left:
When SCOTUS announced that the federal government had wrongly seized power that belonged to the states, and thus acted to restore and enhance state authority, leftist governors and state legislators decried the act as tyranny.
When SCOTUS announced that Executive Branch regulatory agencies had wrongly seized power that belonged to Congress, and thus acted to restore and enhance Congressional power, leftist members of Congress decried the act as tyranny.
When SCOTUS announced that lawmakers had wrongly seized power that belonged to the people, and thus acted to restore and enhance personal autonomy, leftist grassroots activists decried the act as tyranny.
According to the left, actions having the clear effect of decentralizing and devolving decision-making authority (i.e., democratizing) represent “threats to our democracy.”
It’s all part of the leftist “deconstruction” strategy I described most fully in American Restoration. The left simply redefines words to mean their opposites. They then claim all words with positive associations and try to tar us with words recognized as negative.
