The Trans Movement and the Woke Soul

I’m working on a fairly lengthy essay series showing how a deep spiritual crisis lies at the heart of most of America’s problems. It’s a complex argument with a number of working parts, but one of its central claims is that Wokeism is a new religion. Digging a bit deeper, I believe that Wokeism has caught on because it’s a brilliant response to the unarticulated spiritual needs of today’s elites.
Fortunately, even a complex argument can be broken into pieces. This morning, my friends at Human Events published my essay The Trans Movement and the Woke Soul. In that essay, I show—respectfully and logically—that today’s Trans Movement represents nothing short of the Woke rediscovery of the soul.
I’ve been floating this idea for several months now. As far as I can tell, it’s quite original. Many of the folks to whom I’ve mentioned it have been deeply religious Jews and Christians, including more than a few religious scholars and members of the clergy. All found it novel and fascinating.
I think it makes sense of an important contemporary movement. This morning’s essay marks the first time I’ve shared it publicly or in writing.
If it resonates, please share. If you have comments or feedback, please share those as well.
